In early November, President Biden will attend the U.N.’s 26th Conference of the Parties in Glasgow. If he must report that the U.S. has, yet again, passed no concrete legislation to address the climate crisis, the other 196 nations will have no reason to take action. Now is the time for every citizen who wants action to end the climate crisis to say: “HOLD THE LINE! NO CLIMATE NO DEAL!”
CALL SCRIPT: My name is ________. I am a constituent from _________. My message for you is to HOLD THE LINE! PASS THE ENTIRE BUILD BACK BETTER PLAN, WITH NO CUTS TO CLIMATE ACTIONS OR SOCIAL JUSTICE. HOLD UP THE BIPARTISAN INFRASTRUCTURE BILL UNTIL THERE’S A DEAL ON ALL OF IT!
Eat Plants Tip: “Hope…requires action and engagement.” “The cumulative effect of thousands of ethical actions can help to save and improve our world for future generations.” “The movement to heal our lives and our planet is critically important, and food is at its very foundation.” Jane Goodall, The Book of Hope: A Survival Guide for Trying Times.
And please try some locally grown, indigenous foods like Nopalitos or prickly pear cacti, which are good for lowering blood sugar. You could pick your own and burn off the needles. Or you can buy them in the Mexican food section in 27-30 oz. jars, preserved with salt, onion and a little chili pepper. At first, they look a little slimy. But they lose that when cooked. They are great as an addition to scrambled eggs, along with sautéed onions and some diced green chilis. More recipes will follow. Enjoy!
