When we read about the banning of books, we may feel some moral outrage, sadness, or just plain anger that some folks believe they should and can control access to reading material. Yet most of us have had a healthy dose of supposedly ban-able books either through our schooling or our choices at the library and bookstore. That is where the power of reading is – we can remember and revisit books that a few others thought were reprehensible. Those stories stay present with us. The purpose of this meeting is to reflect on a book or two (or three) that you believe has stayed with you because it was difficult, challenging, engaging, and maybe delightful. The following sites address this topic: https://pen.org/issue/book-bans/ and https://www.ala.org/bbooks/frequentlychallengedbooks/decade2019
