A new folder on the Earth Justice page of the website will have information about Environmental organizations of interest, starting with the newly formed uuclimatejustice.org.
UU Climate Justice Coalition, https://www.uuclimatejustice.org/, is a coalition of UU groups. So far, members of the coalition include UU Ministry for Earth, UU Side With Love Organizing Strategy Team, Coalition of UU State Action Networks, among many others. The project is now funded in part by the Fund for UU Social Responsibility. As the climate crisis accelerates, this group is designed to share resources and ideas and have a greater impact in their climate justice work. It is especially focused on listening to communities on the frontlines, and addressing how this crisis affects marginalized groups.
Amazon Frontlines, https://amazonfrontlines.org/, Formed in 2011, their team is comprised of an international group of human rights lawyers, environmental activists, forestry specialists, environmental health scientists, filmmakers, journalists, anthropologists, and farmers who live and work in the western Amazon. They help indigenous people tell their own stories and to access clean air, water and environment.
Amazon Watch, https://amazonwatch.org/, Global deforestation contributes 20–25 percent of all greenhouse gas emissions. Nearly 400 distinct Indigenous peoples depend on the Amazon rainforest for their physical and cultural survival. Amazon Watch is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1996. They partner with Indigenous and environmental organizations in campaigns for human rights, corporate accountability, and the preservation of the Amazon’s ecological systems.
