For such a small nation, Iceland boasts an incredible array of landscapes and interesting history. The sagas of ancient Iceland were probably the inspiration for Tolkien’s The Hobbit. Our small group circumvented the island in a small bus and the sights we saw included mountains and valleys, craters, ancient volcanoes and ash, geysers and bubbling hot pools like our Yellowstone park, glaciers, and many beautiful waterfalls. We climbed on a glacier and I only fell once! While there are not many indigenous animals, we spotted whales and watched a puffin perform. If you’ve ever thought about Iceland, I say, “Go!”
