Our congregation is blessed with a beautiful campus on nine acres of land in Paradise Valley, Arizona.
Accessibility
At our congregation, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to participate fully in our community, regardless of their abilities. That’s why we have taken several steps to ensure that no one is excluded from our services and activities.
Mobility
For those with mobility challenges, our sanctuary, Johnson Room, religious education classrooms, restrooms, and patio are all fully accessible. While there are a few gates throughout the property that require assistance to open, we do prop open for full accessibility. We have designated handicapped parking in both our main and upper parking lots, and our staff and volunteers are always available to help.
Visually and Hearing Impairment
For those who are visually impaired, we offer large print and Braille hymnals, as well as orientation tours of our campus upon request. And for those who are hard of hearing, we provide hearing assistance during worship services and encourage all UUCP-sponsored groups to do the same.
To find out more about hearing assistance solutions for your UUCP group, contact Music Director, Benjie Messer. We are happy to provide an American Sign Language interpreter during service upon request.
Please contact our Business Administration, Stephanie Breidel-Vigil to make arrangements.
Pastoral Care
We provide pastoral care to all our members and friends regardless of ability. To build the beloved community, the volunteers on the care team receive special training to assist those who may feel unwelcome, patronized, or marginalized because of their disability. They may not be able to fully remedy every situation, but they can provide a compassionate ear and a willingness to enlist the help of others.
If you have a hidden disability that you think it’s essential for someone to know, please contact a member of the pastoral care team or contact the minister to share your information in confidence.
Restroom Facilities
UUCP has 2 fully accessible gender-neutral restroom facilities on site.
Chemical Sensitivity
We also recognize the needs of those with chemical sensitivities and have created a scent-free space in our sanctuary during Sunday services. Our Scent-Free Zone is located in the back two rows on the west side of the Sanctuary near the piano.
Children with Special Needs
If you have a child with special needs, we welcome them to participate in our religious education program and are happy to make any necessary accommodations. And for all members, regardless of ability, our care team is specially trained to provide compassionate support and assistance.
Please feel free to contact our Director of Children’s Ministries, Katie Resendiz in advance so the best possible arrangements can be made.
Service Animals
We welcome service animals for those who require them and are committed to making our church a safe, welcoming, and inclusive space for all. If you have any questions or concerns about our accessibility features, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
