Our UUCP activity groups afford members and friends the opportunity to get to know one another in informal settings. With interests ranging across the spectrum, there is something for everyone to become involved with and share in fellowship.
Circle Dinners
Circle Dinners are dinner parties of UU friends and acquaintances of all ages, who are single or married, and like to eat delicious food and engage in stimulating, timely, and thought-provoking conversations. Approximately one dinner is held each month and it is a great way to meet newcomers and old timers! There are three large group dinners each year; the first in late September or early October, the last in May, and a Christmas party in early December. The rest are parties of 8-12 meeting in each other's homes. A commitment to attend all of the dinners is NOT required. For more information, contact the UUCP office or circledinners@phoenixuu.org.
Crafters
UU Crafters meet in small groups to work on crafts together and share skills. Members of the Congregation are invited to put their names on the email list to receive information about meetings and projects. Send your name to crafters@phoenixuu.org
MUUvie Group
The MUUvie Group is comprised of UUs who enjoy seeing films and who get together once a month to discuss them. Typically, members see two currently-playing films each month and often a video, as well. Movies are selected at each get-together for the following month and members see them individually.
At the present time, the MUUvie Group meets every second Sunday night and meetings are usually combined with a potluck dinner. Members take turns hosting the dinners in their homes or at the church. The MUUvie Group also prepares the coffee and refreshments at UUCP on the third Sunday as a service project. For more information, contact the UUCP office or muuvie@phoenixuu.org.
Poetry Coffee House
Join us at the Poetry Coffee House in the Memorial Garden (or Room 9 if it is really hot!) on the first Sunday of every month from 9:30 to 10:30 AM to share and read poetry. Participants take turns sharing poems from many sources—including poems that are self-written, poems found over the Internet, or even some good old-fashioned classics. Coffee is provided. For more information, contact the UUCP office or poetry@phoenixuu.org.
Sierra Ancha Wilderness Unitarian Universalist Religious Association (SAWUURA)
This is a 109-acre property of recovering wilderness located seven miles southwest of Young, Arizona, in Seven Mile Canyon. This beautiful property has a rich history as a center for the complex interdependent web of life. Members of this group maintain and study this land. Weekend camps have become traditions. For more information, contact the UUCP office or visit www.sawuura.org.
Traveling Second Fridays
This group meets on the second Friday of each month at 7:00 PM to share travel experiences with slides, pictures, stories, souvenirs, etc. Each month a different presenter invites members to join an "arm chair" visit to a new locale. There is no cost to attend, so just drop by! For more information, contact the UUCP office or travel@phoenixuu.org.
Women's Spirituality Circle
We are a varied-age group of women seeking to find and live our own spiritual paths in community with each other. We use a variety of means to achieve this goal, including:
We meet weekly, and any woman who is a member or friend of the church is welcome. We sponsor the Winter Solstice program each year and provide a Sunday service about once a year. Click here to view our photo gallery for 2007. For more information, contact wmspirituality@phoenixuu.org.
